How do I use S.A.M.?
Using S.A.M. is easy. Simply press the silver button to turn on the device. A blue light will appear, indicating that it’s on. Place the device into your swimming pool. S.A.M. should be charged every seven days or until the light around the on/off button turns off. When S.A.M. needs to be charged, simply remove the device from your pool, open the charge covering and plug it into S.A.M.’s charging port.
How long does S.A.M. need to be in my pool for it to be effective?
In order for S.A.M. to kill algae, it needs to be floating in your pool. S.A.M. should be charged once per week or when the power light around the on/off button is no longer on, indicating S.A.M. has run out of charge. We recommend charging S.A.M. every seven days and charging over night for five hours.
How does S.A.M. work?
S.A.M. emits ultrasonic waves (or sound waves that cannot be heard) that causes gas vesicles within algae to explode. When the gas vesicles explode, the algae sinks to the bottom of the pool where it cannot photosynthesize and ultimately dies.
Like a pool floater, S.A.M. floats around the pool emitting frequencies below the water’s surface to eliminate algae.
Is S.A.M. safe?
Yes! S.A.M.’s ultrasonic frequencies are not audible to humans. When in the pool, S.A.M. cannot be heard by animals outside the pool. The water acts as a barrier, which the sound below the water cannot permeate. If your dog or pet likes to swim with their head below the water, they may be able to hear S.A.M.’s frequencies, but these sounds cannot harm their ears.
Note: While S.A.M. itself is electricity-free, S.A.M. should never be plugged into an electrical outlet to charge while still in your pool!
Can S.A.M. replace my pool chemicals entirely?
S.A.M. is intended to rid your pool of pesky algae, which can lead to a number of pool problems. Our product is a safe alternative to chemical shock treatements, copper treatements, and algaecides. While S.A.M. kills algae before it can eat away at your pool’s cholorine, it is not a pool sanitizer and should not be used in place of your pool’s normal sanitization system. By using S.A.M. in your pool, you’ll find that you signifcantly reduce the amount of chemicals you pour into your pool.
